  7.     Author HUNTER S. THOMPSON may next aim his gonzo journalism
  8. at something close to home: his own trial in Aspen, Colo., for
  9. possession of cocaine, LSD, marijuana and explosives. The
  10. substances were found in a search of his house after he was
  11. charged with sexual assault. Thompson, the model for the
  12. Doonesbury character Duke, maintains that visitors left the
  13. substances over the years and protested that the search was an
  14. invasion of privacy. He told an interviewer: "Things have gone
  15. a lot farther in this country than I realized."
